Green Building and Electric Vehicle
Study of U.S Institute on Global Environmental Issues (SUSI) is hosted by the East West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii from May 6 to June 10 2012. The objective of SUSI is to foster mutual understanding between the people of the U.S and the people of other countries around the world while simultaneously enhancing students' leadership skill.
WE ARE THE ENERGY TEAM. We have noticed that a lot of people of have a prejudice for a green building and electric vehicles, but people do not know why either of these are and are not “green”. We seek to investigate and educate the public about the true definition of green buildings and the implications of using electric vehicles. Is a building green if prior to its existence a building had to be demolished? Will it matter if you lived in a green building if you still drive a gas-guzzler to work? Or even if you drove an electric vehicle, is the problem the car or the
amount of cars on the road?
We are looking for ways to incorporate green buildings with electric vehicles to make a better place for us to live.
Over the 5-week program, we will visit a variety of organizations, companies, and businesses. We will also be interacting with the general public to get a broad perspective on these issues. To conclude our investigation, we will hold a “Gallery of Eco-Solutions” to showcase our observations and the ways we can implement these solutions in South-East Asia.
